The 923 Armchair by David Flynn

Though it may not seem clear at first, the inspiration for David Flynn’s 923 armchair designs are racing automobiles. The design refers to two 1923 (hence the name) events: Gio Ponti’s design debut at a Biennial in Italy and the birth of the 24 Hour Le Mans auto race in France. This particular colour scheme is based on the car that won the aforementioned race. The elegance of the black wood and basic fabric work together beautifully, but above all Flynn provides us with an example of the unusual sources inspiration can be drawn from.
