Orbital Mechanics by Tatiana Plakhova

Artist Tatiana Plakhova turns mathematics and biological complexity into works of art. In this collection named Orbital Mechanics she displays the earth as well as its natural satellites. She uses accurate geographical points in space and creates an artistic interpretation in Illustrator. Maps of the universe are turned into beautiful infographics. Plakhova starts designing the composition by creating a large range of elements and later combines some of these elements until she ends up with a coherent image. The artworks are often overly complex, but this admittedly adds to the visual attraction.

“Complexity Graphics works are based on mathematical simplicity and harmony. I would describe them as infographic abstracts. This mathematical style helps me to illustrate everything from biological cell to the space and meditative worlds. That’s why I admire by math, because it’s everywhere and nowhere.”

Though Plakhova’s work is mostly based on interstellar geography, she also makes visualizations of business trends, cultural information and other earthly matters.
